In November Club Captain Kevin Turner received the LTA volunteer of the year award for Hereford and Worcester which was presented by county chairman Richard Herriman. The award was for volunteer work within the club and community. On receiving this honour Kevin said “I was proud to win the award but also it indicates Wythall Tennis Club is now being noticed. We are only a village club but a proud one and I am one of many volunteers.”

Wednesday afternoon sessions
We have recently started Wednesday afternoon social sessions for off peak members, similar to those that are enjoyed by fulltime members, although everyone is welcome. This has got off to a flying start with upwards of 8 members attending the first 2 sessions and, if successful, we hope to complement this with a morning session for members who can’t play in the afternoons.
If you are interested in coming along the sessions start at 2pm and all are welcome. An introductory fee of £2 is applicable to non or prospective members, though this is refundable upon joining the club.
Open Day
A fun Open Day will take place at the club on Saturday June 14th between 2 and 5pm with the emphasis being firmly on families and fun! There will be plenty of activities, raffles and fun competitions with refreshments provided.
Watch this Space for further information!
Fundraising
The fencing around the court requires replacing this year so fundraising is a priority in 2008 via social and fun day events. If members could donate a prize for a raffle or has a fab idea for fundraising please let a committee member know. All the money raised at these events goes back into running the club.
Wythall Tennis Club can only continue to keep membership fees down by raising as much money as possible through the year, the cost of running the club increases each year. The upkeep of the club is also vital so if through the year you can spend any time weeding or assisting in general maintenance contact a committee member please.
