So anyone in the community interested in taking up or returning to the sport pay us a visit and play on our new surface. You will find club nights or Sunday club afternoon times on our website.
Our thanks go to Chairman Rob Spencer, ably assisted by Chris Maggs who have spent many hours in bringing this plan to fruition.
Artificial grass courts would allow junior/adult coaching and Pay & Play sessions to extend over the winter months even in wet or frosty conditions. Courts identified for the new surface are already floodlit so are available in winter evenings.
New surface would allow the club to extend its ADULT community court hire project through the winter. Balls and rackets are provided to visitors FOC if required and if visitors play over the winter months there is a real possibility they will become club members the following year.
By providing tennis lessons and pay and play options for juniors through the winter will allow club coach to monitor their progress with the aim to enter more LTA winter events so introducing them to competitive side of the support.
Winter tennis will result in more junior teams entering AEGON spring and summer leagues as juniors have continued their technical and match play skills. Preparing juniors for external tournaments is vital as their initial experience may decide how they progress.
